VJING SINCE 1999.

Utilising the best of both styles Blend combine a percussive approach to performing; cutting, scratching and layering the visuals live on the beat with a human touch. Meanwhile highly bpm integrated compositions and complicated layering are used to create new and intricate footage on the fly. The sum of Blend truly is greater than its parts.

Based in the UK, Blend Visuals came into existence through a chance meeting at the Birmingham based multimedia collective, Project X Presents. Since 2011 both Liam d'Authreau & Tony Coleman have been constantly travelling the length and breadth of the country performing live visuals for some of the UK's most loved promoters and brands.

We pride ourselves in being able to work alongside promoters to provide stunning visuals for any event no matter what the genre. We have worked regularly with promoters and labels as diverse as Cocoon, Drumcode, DJ Magazine, Spectrum, Ec-Lectricity, Face, Fantazia, SBTV, Lisa Lashes, Godskitchen, Global Gathering, Halcyon, Breakthru, Bigger than Barry, Leftfoot, Scratch Club, Hospitality, Babylon Sound System, Drop Beats Not Bombs, Capsule (Supersonic fest), House of God, Atomic Jam, The National Drum and Bass Awards, Shambala Fest, Mr Elephant, Bunka & GLAS.

Phag Off is a multilingusitic queer project born in 2000 that delivers its contents through the festival form, with a conception of party completely new and deeply open; each season provides a series of theme nights that address with irreverence and irony, gender and queer issues.

Phag Off gives a specifical focus to the video information freedom using pornography as a political incorrect tool to destroy taboos and to promote new forms of relationship.

The avant-garde spirit, the courage to present itself in a shocking mix of luxury, excess and extravagance and the technologic experimentations in music and video, are the basic characteristic of Phag Off.

FLV-Flyer Live Visuals participates in the project in an active way with three of its artists; Warbear, Nikky and Infidel

Vj inxile (Aus/CH) first showcase in a worldwide vj conference. She will be re-uniting and performing with Emiliano Ena (It), a talented young electronic producer from Rome. Sharing with Emiliano a true passion for playing live, he concentrates on the melody flow, creating a fresh experience improvising, while i mix visuals in real time on the spot, sourcing my inspiration in the music i hear while playing, in the surroundings and absorbing the energy of the audience.
Thriving on the live/spontaneous element, like a barmaid preparing her cocktail, i cut, stir, shake and pour my vision on the screen. While performing, my being undergoes a colorful set of strong emotions, obsessive compulsive behaviour and general naughtiness! my visuals are based on the world around me, very strange cinema z personal remixes and studies of the human body in motion, of symbology and geometry, of current or obsolete news or phenomenon and sometime a zest of political thoughts and a sprinkle of written word in very rare and widespread languages...all of which i layer and paint a moving composition on the screen. Best is when people directly interact with my visuals, such as for example dancing.

This work is made of a very fast sequence of clips. The main actor is always a human body, viewed in his multiple natures, suggesting pornographic poses, domination and slavery, alienation, fetishes, or the missing progress of our modern technological and primitive times. All this bubbling stuff making here and now my own imaginary world, my personal point of view.

Shadows and thunders are there to improve a sense of surprise and lighting in the public, grotesque characters suggest usually a sense of bright madness. You´ll never know if they laugh or cry, they just seem to scream, like if they were burning from the inside. And so I.

English:

This time we are making focus on significant authors and interesting musical projects from the last 10 years, trying to include in a fast eagle view, different genres around electronic raggae from its roots to later manifestations such as drum & bass, dub, and it`s newest form under the terms of the dubstep scene.

He have absorbed the music that We have got to live with. We have reinterpreted the video image that we once absorbed, and now We are ready to integrate in one presentation, this mixes and remixes of songs with our video footage archive.

Base videos are sync'd to the music in videoclip format, triggered and manipulated in real time, mixing them as songs in old school vinyl or CD(nowDVD) style, but with new technology that supports both; audio and video to be mixed, effected and scratched. Other video sources along with more video controllers adorn the image, that is finally equalized by a video mixer interface that comes out to the projectors.

We don`t forget the rythmical and easthetical form of the performance, making of this, a nice and danceable set, but we don´t forget neither art`s function on cultural diffusion, that is why we also include samples taken from interviews to different artists and critics from different documentary sources.

The Award Foundation Cinetrip presents in Budapest the third international contest VJ-Tournament. Main theme is the new international trends in contemporary visual culture and electronic music. Vjs in competition are divided into three categories: contest, live and pre-production.

The program contemplates workshops as well, with contributions from software developers and 3D animators.

FLV-Flyer Live Visuals
joins the event with 2 workshops, 2 A/V performance and 2 vjset .

During the workshop Flash Vjing, Gianluca Del Gobbo, Paki and Pintaycolorea show the technical rider of FLxER 4.4, free software for vjing based on Flash technology.

The workshop Midi Shop held by Gianluca Del Gobbo, Vj2 and The Sad is about the possibility to realize an interface to allow FLxER and Pure Data to interact each other via MIDI.

The performance I C::NTR::L Nature by The SAD is an audiovisual improvisation performed with the electric bass guitar and the custom-made software C::NTR::L, Human-Computer Interface for physical computing developed in Pure Data by the artist. The performance is the the sarcastic celebration of the human instinct finally able to govern the nature.

The performance A/V Remote Vjing is an experiment for live video performance without the phisycal presence of the artists. Nikky (FLxER Team) e David (Monkeypresso) interact each other in remote and with the vjs at Cinetrip using FLxER.

Live vjset by Paki and Pintaycolorea are among the other proposal by FLV-Flyer Live Visual

FLV - Flyer Live Visuals presents on saturday, November 7th, 2009, at 22:00, at Nuovo Cinema Aquila in Rome, the last video performance conceived and realized to comment on the fall of the Berlin Wall for the twentieth anniversary of recurrence.

The entire exterior architectural surface of Nuovo Cinema Aquila becomes screen to accommodate the visionary choral performance of video art titled Falling - The Fall proposed by the FLxER Team. Nikky, Cool79, Verbo from FLxER Team and StudioAIRA realize a spectacular show of videoprojection on building in order to demonstate the power of this unusual technique.

Abandoned the traditional concept of video projection on a 4:3 screen, the images have jumped off the screen and invade the architecture, alter perception interrupting the continuity of the stability level of perception.

Falling - The Fall portrays the drama of destruction and opens the door to unexpected interpretations arising from the language of video art.

Tekfestival in collaboration with FLV - Flyer Live Visuals, supported by the City of Rome, the Nuovo Cinema Aquila and the Film Library of the Goethe Institut Italien in Rome, also contributes to the event film Visions at dawn of the world's end taking care of all relating to communication by video in the interior of the foyer.

During the night TWB - Trix & Warbear perform TanzApnea an electro djset accompanied by the FLxER Team thematic vjset.

When Méliès got to know it, cinema was a young technology, still to be known. Their inventors, Lumière brothers, had already investigated its documentation capabilities, and they had already begun to set up some short entertainment sketches, but it was Méliès, fascinated by the technical potentialities of this tool, to play with this technology at the limits of its working logics: multiple exposition, editing, stop motion, multiplying himself on stage and animating the inanimate, up to the realization of the biggest of the Utopias for a man of the end of XIX century: Moon conquer.

The show would like to be a tribtue to Méliès cinema and to his relationship with technology, in which we like to see the same curiosity and the same strength of experimentation that move actual live performance movement.

True Fictions is the result of a year long digital performance art project, produced and directed by Christopher Thomas Allen and commissioned by EMPAC, The Experimental Media and Performing Arts Centre in Troy, New York.

It is a live audio visual spectacle that fuses documentary film making, music, animation and motion graphics with cutting edge digital performance tools. A stunning collage of music and live cinema which explores the themes of truth and myth through a multitude of American and Native American voices; with a original musical score created through the collaborations of 25 New York based musicians and vocal artists.

The final performance was completed and presented in September 2007 at EMPAC and has gone on to tour other media & arts festivals internationally.

Nuclear Anxiety at the Live Performers Meeting icon

11:21:21 | Nuclear Anxiety at the Live Performers Meeting

2011-05-11 | xDxD.vs.xDxD
NuclearAnxiety is a performance created for the SensibleData section of LPM.

After the Fukushima nuclear disaster in Japan, humanity is explicitly confronting again the nuclear scare and the general issues on energetic policies and on the future of the environment and of our lifestyles.

Current global society brought forward unsustainable models that are explicitly unbearable and only persist thanks to the state of hallucination brought on by the spectacle of mass media: "not in my bak yard" approaches are connected to a state of disbelief, of unreality, of insensibility that numbs our perception of the state of the planet: poor, sick, powered by a fake economy based on death and totally unable to grant any lasting support to the lifestyle promoted by global corporations.

Information wants to be free. Information is there, available and accessible, and it needs to emotionally and aesthetically touch people, reaching inside the cognitive fog in which we're all drawn in.

Nuclear Anxiety is about this:exposing the anxieties, dreams, wishes, desires of people, and the information about the current state of the world. In an emotiona, engaging, dramatic way.

Fukishima disaster is an excuse, to start the dialogue again, raging and furious towards the craziness of the politics that rule our planet, and loving towards the planet and our fellow humans.

NuclearAnxiety will create an emergent narrative in which all connected humans can take part. Live streams of information will be gathered in realtime from social networks and open access data-sets, and rendered into a generative story about fear, desire, hope and vision.

NuclearAnxiety started from an initiative by Artsblog and Art is Open Source. It will be included into the NuclearAnxiety cycle on Artsblog.

All artists participating to the SensibleData section of LPM (and also everyone else at LPM, of course) will be invited to join in for the co-creation of the performance. They will all be credited on Artsblog and an article will be made about their participation, including an interview about their artistic practice.

The Invasion of the Super-normals and the Resistance of the Mole Man
Performance-discussion organised by Action30 Group

Participating: Pierangelo Di Vittorio, Giuseppe Palumbo, Enrico Mastropierro, Giovanni D’Aloia

The superhero is a kind of Messiah. He comes to save us. He can defend us against the criminals or protect us from accidents and natural disasters. He could be a hyperbolical representation of the police and the world order, but also, and simultaneously, an allegory of the welfare state, that guarantees a certain amount of security against the accidents of life. The superhero could present himself in the form of a Dux or a Führer, but he could also be the new man announced by the proletarian revolutions.
Today we are no more keen to confide our salvation to a superior power. As from the Sixties, the superheroes had progressively lowered themselves to take part in the everyday life problems. They have become the icons of a “normality”, considered as a unique source of significance and worth. After 11th September, a further awareness has arisen: that the only possible heroes are the average people, sometimes almost the victims.
The great superheroes have died and that is okay. By dying however, they have given birth to the crowd of small super-normals. A terrible species of mutants has invaded sports, fiction, reality shows, everyday life. Exceptional only to the level necessary to render brighter the normality, by levitating it from within. The performance of the super-normals: that is our everyday doping.
This reality is accompanied by a substantial economy of the “monstrous”. The analysis of phenomena such as hooliganism and bullying shows that the normalizing processes base themselves on rendering banal the racist outbreaks. One should dig deep into hell in order to encounter the normality, intended as something elevated, superior, subliminal.
But in the Earth’s womb, resistance is preparing. “I am not only made of rubbish, that is why I will challenge you with my rubbish!”. The erudition of mole women and men shakes the normality and gives space to radical politics.

Action30 is a group of graphic designers, photographers, artists, video-makers, djs, scholars, journalists and activists residing in Italy and abroad, who aim to perceive the “new” forms of racism and fascism through the magnifying glass of the Nineteen thirties. The tragic lucidity of those years should render less opaque the today’s landscapes and give way to new critical and creative positions. The initial hypothesis is that we are living a new edition of the Thirties and, as a consequence, it is not enough only to analyse, interpret and explain. We should do something, take action. For Action30 this means, firstly to put in question the usual “formats”: both at the level of knowledge transmission, hibernated in the traditional academic form, and at the level of communication, diluted in spectacular and purely entertaining forms.

Action30 is also a website (http://www.action30.it ), a weblog, where researches, discussions and editorial work meet together (www.action30.it/blog ), and a cultural association based in the city of Bari, which activities include the creation of books, audiovisual materials, performances and events.

In DITHERNOISE audiovisual performance “Wave interference patterns” sound is treated as paint on an invisible temporal canvas, the audiovisual synergy process is improvised in real time in the attempt to cause a singularity through synesthesia. Simon takes advantage of the full range of sound frequencies available, extending the low and high frequency of the sound spectrum to enhance the physical and tactile perception of sound and its proximity. Simon attempt to produce cross-modal patterns between sound and visual interaction with the intention to explore further fields of reality through the opening of a syneshtetic perceptual window. This work is inspired by neuroscience, introspective research and theories of fields. Simon approach to composition is conceptual and holistic, in opposition to a fragmented methodology of note phrases and discrete durations. Simon sees physical space as a container of energy fields, resonating modes seen as Chladni patterns within the space and also as the material substrate for fields of ideas, information and culture paralleling concept in theoretical physics, philosophy, and field theories of information. The work links Gestalt theories of perception with nested fields of acoustic waveforms and a field-based view of reality proposed through synesthesia.

The performance process can be described as “reconfiguring” the material of already constituted objects, drawing “transversal” lines across fields and media. The interaction is based in the movement of field of abstract information allowed by digitalized code mediated by computer, intuition and chances, or more correctly the intervals between them, aiming to produce a “singularity” as the outcome of cross-modal multisensory experience.

As artist Simon’s concern is in the field of mind, consciousness and theories of information in the broad sense, He proposes the artwork resulting from this project should be seen as a crystal that when struck by light disperse light energy into separate frequencies, Simon vision for this work is to dispersing information making information available in another form in the way of facilitating new discoveries.

Frank Sent Us was born from the collaboration between Alessandro Roberti (Clichévideo), Mastro aka System Error, and Daniele Mungai, aka Frenetik Beat in Rome.

The project was born through the use of electronic and classical instruments and avant-garde computers. A live set where music and video completely melt down, creating an explosive mixture. Video are “played live” by just working through their original soundtracks and forming a series of hypnotic loops, harmonized perfectly in tune with the images on the screen. The themes may be endless. Each video sequence has a proper strong musicality that can be taken apart and reconstructed with an orchestral approach. The expressiveness of cult movies’ images make them sound like musical notes and create with this mix, an amazing event. The musicality of the sound combined with strong narrative images breed a great emotional impact, which is emphasized by the uniqueness that characterizes each live performance.

Frank Sent Us has a unique and multifaceted nature, due to the audiovisual performance which is able to stir up the dance floor of a crowded underground club and be part of futuristic audio-visual installations in multisensory artistic contexts. From Doing a live mix of films, like if that would be music, the video is broken up and played again, like a music instrument. Watch the sound, listen to the images.

Carosello was based on a sequence of spots.

It was considered as a kind of devil, speaking to people about products, habits and products. It was an imaginary realm able to produce illusions. Nowadays it seems so far but its memory is still living.

Sulpicia Mea Vox icon

Sulpicia Mea Vox gives voice to the ancient Roman verses by Sulpicia, the only extant female poet from Roman antiquity. A new performing technique called Real Time Live Cinema (RTLC) engages live video performance, light painting, and music for performers and dancers to give corporal expression to Sulpicia’s verses. These ancient verses set against the background of newtechnologies produce a very poignant experience. The performers are filmed against a green screen and mixed with a video performance software in order to produce the real time live cinema movie.

Sulpicia Mea Vox deconstructs Sulpicia’s forgotten verses using technology to emphasize three predominant traits of today’s society, mediatization, narcisism, and instantaneousness. The public sees mediatized performers whose images are processed by cameras, computers, and projectors. This technique forces performers to behave in a narcisistic fashion as the gaze fixedly the screen. The RTLC movie is an instantaneous product in a society that privilegies immediate delivery and results.

Sulpicia Mea Vox offers, then, a unique combination of elements to rediscover the ancient poet through a technique that calls into question some core values of contemporary society.

Sulpicia Mea Vox has been presented at international venues including the Nuit Blanche Paris 2010 and LPM, Rome.

Direction : Opie Boero Imwinkelried and Anna Ten

Drum and Space is a five song cycle bringing together the analogue and the digital into a beat-driven interstellar experience. It incorporates analogue electronics (for both audio and video), generative video created with custom software and open source tools, live vocals, and NASA/Jet Propulsion Laboratory data. Through audio and video which are tightly synchronized via networked computers, Drum and Space is an orchestrated and energetic narrative of a journey through and conquest of space.
The heart of a Drum and Space performance is the live use of analogue equipment to add to the ever-evolving textures of both audio and video in addition to live vocals, both sung and vocoded.

The third of november, during the opening of the new venue of Accademia L'Oreal in Milan, FLV - Flyer Live Visual acts a live video performance to place side by side the live cutting show of Alessandro Santopaolo, founder and hair stylist of Contesta Rock Hair.

Big screens from the ground are the set design of the choreographic performance of creative hairdressing.

Completely focused on the theme of copper, the new seasonal Matrix hair color line, Nikky's video performance is a carousel of images that have somewhat to do with the material in question. The inside of an electric cable, the ancient tools of a kitchen, vintage stuff: every object comes to life, generating a continuous flash of sparkling reflections that evoke the warm shade of hair color trend of the season.

Lab9 instead enjoys playing with vector images of skinny women leaping at geometrical depths, which are the double of the models in flesh and bones on the scene. The live performance is enriched by shots taken by a high-definition camera, focused on actors and specators.

cyborg icon

A live audiovisual performance about sex, gender, liquids and circuits which travels from abstraction to concrete landscapes.

Almost a science fiction scenery, full of acids, love, cables and weird experiments. The video footage that we will use consists on a dialogue between video loops extracted from alternative porn productions with post porn videos from the queer movement we came across and self made representations.

The role of performance understood more as a amplified ambient in which different objects as well as body fragments occupy no conforming decisions or positions.

Inspired by the theories that advocate Noise as the foundation of everything - chaos. Information rises from this noise “Form - information, that is phenomenal - arises from chaos - white noise. What is knowable and what is known are born of that unknown.” To M. Serres, noise is multiplicity - “possibility itself”. Furthermore, “it is not strength, it is the very opposite of power, but is its capacity. This Noise is the opening...”

Noise as opening, as possibility, as capacity. If we cut out noise, we risk cutting out possibility.

Noise is misunderstood for the same reasons as drag: it shows through the appropriation of nonmusical elements that tone and rhythm are, like gender, simply social constructions. According to this, we take Noise as a central element to provoke opening.

When the process is going on, we are entering more and more inside new explorations.

Thus performance is generated by the interaction of our bodies with technologies and inversely, leading to confusion between body fluids and other cyber fantasies. Where the immersion of the body has the capacity to activate audible and visual devices, suggesting an infiltration into the machine, allows us to increase our cyborg sex fantasy in which an entity, a subject, opens the codified.

The organic performance seeks to eliminate the distance between digital representation and real life. Breaking the border between the imaginary and the documentation. Reestablishing the relation between oneself and one's reflection.

2 sources of images : prepared loops mixed with video taken in real time, using web cameras. The sound is generated by homemade circuits worn on our bodies. Text, video narration and live performance combined; all topped with a large loading sound dose that leads to noisy extreme actions on stage. When light meets the body circuits sound and love explode.

We are seeking new ways of understanding our bodies, exploring new worlds that open doors to experimental passages. An anarchic direct action to defend our bodies, our policies and our values, an attempt to represent our invisible and unspeakable disturbed parts.

In the night of the cathedrals, the meeting of organ imporvisation, veejaying and electronic sound.

The work explores the deterioration of the body in favour of the image, which in contact with matter, with the sensitive topic, it becomes energy. Antimatter, as characteristic of a pure vision, wants to reach a concrete form, to become a new tool, to overwhelm the body invading and violating it from the inside, in order to learn the structure and arise out of nothing. This exchange of levels of perception and projection of both elements, owes its existence to the ephemeral duration of stay of the matter itself.
The idea is to make the image as a monomial able to present the matter as it is occurring and to show its tangible power in the immanent reality.
The movements of the performer are taken in real time using the camera, the actions are thus associated with changes on stage of the projected image. This mode, to interact and to strive towards an union between image and body, allow to develop the narrative in a unique space, incorporating a dialectic more close and intimate.

An experimental performance capturing noises and glitches of a modified console: the MegaGlitch. The idea of creating new content with old machines fascinates me. The consoles remain alive, for better or for worse, but creative and new.

The bugs, glitches and noises all coming from the chaos create new forms of aesthetics. Everything has already been created and operated; the glitch reformulates through his brutal, primal, minimal nature and makes us question ourselves about the true nature of beauty. This video is not "beautiful", but some will find forms, colors or sounds they like. They will then discover the bricks of sensations, of their feelings.

A tribute to Kenneth Anger and to the occult instigation of antisocial behaviours.

Following V.Vale thought, a prank can be defined as an invocation to imagination, poetic landscape, the unexpected, a deep level of irony and social criticism. If great pranks create synaesthestesic experiences based on exciting, original and reverberating perfomances, then those criteria can be easily applied to the practice of backmasking. This media jamming involves the action of producing a subliminal message which can be heard by slowing or accelerating a record or spinning it at its contrary. Back masking is done for different purposes but especially to tease the music market and to pump paranoia in the fears of religious fanatists. If we consider its penetration into commercial music production and distribution, we can define it the as one of the last expressions of XX century Pop Art. We recently had been able to slide inside a back masking database of an italian integralist christian association who spent ages to cathalogue every backmasked track. We descovered an incredible treasure of art fragments that we could not resist to steal and play with. We are dedicating this work, through its title, to Kenneth Anger, another visionary poet of incredibly strange culture and subliminal lover of chaos, in his crowliean floating period. Join us for a vynil travel into the darkest sides of pop culture. Celebrate Satan and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts.

The MENEO performance investigates artistic concepts that imply the surprising and unforeseeable, accidents, mistakes and coincidences as a means to alter the dynamics of creative performance and to discover new aesthetic presentations. Intentional coincidences produce paradoxical irritations that allow for a re-enchantment and sensualisation of abstract structures whether applicable to technological systems, social situations, or communicative and collective processes in an open venue or space. MENEO plays with the unpredictable also as a method of conscious disorientation, of asserting a provocative independence, and as immunization against the growing desire of public and commercial organizations for security and control. This leads to a hot and spicy atmosphere that sometimes has motivated the two performers and some of the crowd to experience disorderly conduct, like taking off their clothes completely while playing and dancing, zooming the attendants into a deep and full flavored rhythm vibe.

My name is Dasha. I am from Belarus. With my LPM project I want to send message to my ex-boyfriend Egor. We broke up last year following my pressure and he doesn’t want to contact me at all. But I want to communicate with him, to get in touch. While reading our mails I’ve discovered that it was HE who told me about Processing and interest to visual culture was those common between us.

I am studying at Austria now and HE is in Belarus and we have no chance to meet and solve it. I hope a lot HE may come to LPM this year and see the video I dedicated to HIM personally. I am a newcomer to this area and my video set is quite simple.

The main idea is to explain that without my friend I'm just dreaming about love.

My project is a multilayered structure based on timelapse to show my trouble sleep. The second layer are simulated memories which I play in my head and quotations from our mails, pictures, spring weather and animation based on my memories and fantasies.

for this project I use the permitted by the author (DJ Lokiboi) soundtracks http://soundcloud.com/lokiboi

The performance will be developed onto two parallel levels dominated by the principle of contrast. Both parts will evolve in conformity with the classical scheme of The Black Swan's myth: birth, growth, death. This process is then analyzed through a dichotomy, that visually is expressed inside 3 monochromatic screens, in which the fight for balance is fought. The "switching on" of two equidistant cubes, proportional to the central screen, will start a performance sustained by a musical narration which will lead the audience through the different phases of the Manichaean conflict. The techno beats will become more and more pressing, visually culminating in a synthesis of the opposites in the central screen.

“Nothing can ever happen twice.
In consequence, the sorry fact is
that we arrive here improvised
and leave without the chance to practice.”

Wislawa Szymborska “Nothing Twice”
(translated by S. Baranczak & C. Cavanagh)

Poetry, theatre, and video art are siblings. Poetry is deeply theatrical, and a role of visual content in theatre is pivotal. They are crucially and profoundly different, and yet there is much in each art form that can be learned from the other. Yet, while exchange between theatre and poetry is well-established, and the role of multimedia in performing arts is growing, it seems to be very little happening in a junction between these three art forms.
“Nothing Twice” aims at this junction, specifically. It is a video-theatre performance bringing together the poetry of Wislawa Szymborska, Polish Sign Language (PJM), live video mixing, and a powerful choreography blending flamenco and a contemporary dance.
The primary language of “Nothing Twice” is movement. Movement of hands and shoulders of an interpreter (Agata Jurkiewicz), translating poetic text into a choreographed moves of a dancer (Agnieszka “Bronka” Bronowska) and into a visual medium such as live video (VJ Emiko).
In “Nothing Twice” the sound is as important as image. The spoken text enhances a connection between gestures, images, and music. The music itself is a collaborative work of top-notch contemporary Polish musicians, Dagna Sadkowska (violin) and Michal Gorczynski (clarinet, beatbox), Dave “Dangerous” Evans (percussion), and Ju Cho (vocal).

The performance has been supported and curated by the “KOKON” Foundation, which aims at promotion of culture of deaf and hearing-impaired people in Poland.

The performance consists essentially in real time interaction between the sounds generated by the three members of the group who engage in live modulation of "vibrations" through the use of computer hardware and software, midi controller, plus a sinth moog, and videos sounds generated by and controlled by the fourth component: VJ SID. The system is driven by signals midi clock, midi Note and midi CC.

The performance is done, as usually done, with their faces covered and in uniform, in order to separate the art form by the person who expresses it.

The style is dance oriented, and has already been tested in some large club level, and most recently in an event MOODART (MUV preview).

It's possible to see the video (mounted by the crew) told the evening at Jubilee Cube with live performance Video + Audio + djset through the following myspace address: www.myspace.com / automaspace.

"Cry Me" is a radiography of the soul. A woman reveals herself through the videoart, playing with a tv display that is like an uterus where her double lives and sings. The piece was inspired somehow by the visceral art of Frida Kahlo and by the videoclips of Laurie Anderson in the 80ies. The video in the display was shot with a dvcam camera and then manipulated into photoshop frame-by-frame, as a digital painted animation.

EQ-AV is a solo audiovisual performance exploring regions of human consciousness where technical advancement begin to captivate free will by means of subliminal control and hypnotizing patterns. Although the oryginal music can be considered danceable (being a mix of speedy distorted minimal techno and dark drones), the aim of the show is not to entertain but to experiment and explore. All content used is 100% purpose-made and is not being played anywhere else. Technical side of the performance sums up almost 10 years of audio visual experiments by the author.

The work IDIYOTIC (International Do It Yourself Online Tutorial Internet Culture) plays in a provoking but yet entertaining way with the mentioned elements of the acronym.

Since several years the online tutorial is, as a phenomenon of the 21st century, a part of our daily DIY culture. Thus this is helping us, answering questions and solving problems one comes across within the daily life. In this regard IDIYOTIC can be seen as an homage to the way we are dealing with this emerging knowledge, the grand library of documented, personified knowledge in the form of short amateur videos, which are shared on various video platforms on the internet.

The work IDIYOTC invites the audience to question those topics like: sharing culture, free exchange, self made/taught, knowledge sharing from a slightly shifted perspective.

IDIYOTIC is a live performed 'Mash Up' of several hundreds video tutorials remixed and recreated in a unique unpredictable entertaining way.

For this piece several hundreds online tutorials have been analyzed, sorted and edited to allow the creation of a live mash up/remix. By mixing the different tutorials and by erasing the original context the creation of a new tutorial with alternative meanings and context appears, only restricted by the unifying limitation of their original presentation.

Our live cinema performance entitled ‘HIRUDO’ invites the audience to accompany a xenomorph creature on its journey through our macro and micro cosmos and by this presenting the viewer the beauty of a wide range of visual elements which are unseen by the human eye.

The journey shows the audience a life in the world around us, so fascinating and yet invisible for us. HIRUDO shows visually rich and beautiful the daily path between life and death, but also the harmony, peace and beauty of this world. The focal point of the piece is the simultaneity of illusion and equilibrium, of transition and puzzlement, of intensification and growth.
With this piece the audience will enter a world unknown to them but yet so near. The biological elements mixed with a digital appearance and the protagonists performing their rituals, their hypnotically movements will emerge as an experimental and fluid synthesis of the analogue and digital, the improvisational and participatory elements.

The work is part of a series of works dedicated to human specificities. The relationship with images and with the deep mystery of creative making is concrete, real, almost carnal and not transcendental. A continuous movement of human being in relationship with what he does not know yet. Light enters inside and generates research hypothesis.

LPM presents Micro Macro, the work of Mathieu Bohet & Martí Guillem:

New technologies now allow a child to boost his perception of the world. We will offer the public to discover the world of sound and vision as a child discovering the sounds, surface textures that surround it. Without shame or prejudice, the image will reveal the smallest details of human anatomy and its direct environment. Chewing gum, kleenex soaked in wine, tissue, saliva, eyelash, lips, genitals, iris, tongue, hair, nails, teeth. The materials will be stretched, rubbed stained, processed to reveal their possible states (...) video recalling the "foreign body" of the artist Mono Hatoum.

On stage the audience can appreciate the source of sounds like the positions and actions perpetrated in order to be filmed by the prying eye of the Jakks EyeClops Bionic Eye.

SONIDO LUZ

After a long dynamic generation of vehicles, mobile, then cars, we have reached the age of the vehicle static "vehicle audiovisual"

Paul Virilio

Sound Light is a vehicle audiovisual that uses a knetic energi by a number of 2d and 3d animations, audio choreography represented through sounds and a 100% digital hardware. Where what is simulated is not the depth of space film, if not of architectural space.

Audio light creates a concave space-time understanding the whim of the virtual era, where time is no longer an inordinately long time in the history, if not, is a time-intensive instantaneousness without a story.

We take the viewer on a virtual tour through the synthesis of these elements through a process of two minutes.

Revenge eternal is a collaborative project between artists Aaron Zernack, Jordan Cleland and Esteban Garcia. The performance involves a set of visual and programming tools combined with analog sound generation and effects. Live recorded samples are effected through visual interfaces, analog voices and synthesized drums. Circuit bent instruments are also effected with analog effects pedals. The sound parameters of the piece affect the image sequences presented in the screen. The use of sound as a data parameter on a code-based visualization results in a semi-automatic band. The performers respond to the machine filtered sounds and input new sounds to be processed.

The maximalism is an artistic movement that emerged in the late twentieth and early twenty-first century, unlike minimalism where less is more, more is maximalism, provided there is an intention of the sender and receiver.
It is a comprehensive art where you can decide to put more or less, it is important that any material object is created by this minimalism also includes within its structure.

In a society full of information and with everything at your fingertips this art is expansive thinking of the arts at the beginning of this millennium.

Present a purely setVJ maximalist, a collage of vintage images, glinch, textures and all kinds of visual material to help me develop my speech. A speech inspired mainly in these times.

The idea comes from two great passions in my life, juggling and computer science. For several years I have the idea to merge them both.
After a long journey seems to be time to show how juggling can be the source of generative sound and video.
From the point of view of juggling performance I'll use a contact, fire stick and paraffin for fire-breathing; from the point of view of computer science I'll use a computer, a camera, a projector, and a lot of creativity.

The eleventh edition of LPM Live Performers Meeting begins on May 31, 2012 in Rome.

LPM offers the unique opportunity to experience 4 days of audiovisual performances, VJing, workshops, panel discussion, product showcases presented by hundreds of VJs, audiovisual artists, new media professionals and thinkers from around the world.
In fact it is this community of artists that made of the 2011 Rome edition a surprising event. We hosted not less than 484 artists, 228 performances, workshops and showcases, recording an overall amount of 32 participant countries: Albania, Andorra, Argentina, Belgium, Belarus, Brazil, Bulgaria, Colombia, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, India, Ireland, Italy, Macedonia, Mexico, New Zealand, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, United States, Russia, Switzerland, Turkey, Hungary, Uruguay, Ukraina.

This year LPM returns with a new location: Planet Alpheus in Rome, a multifaceted area of 3,000 square meters perfectly suited to accommodate the different souls of the Meeting. Part of the Meeting will take place at the Teatro Valle, a historic landmark in Rome which, since almost one year from the occupation, will host some installations, av performances and vj / dj set.

Again, this XI edition seeks to promote the practice of live video performance, thanks to a rich and unpredictable programme aimed at exploring different themes through new audiovisual languages, techniques and technologies.

The daily schedule of the event:

15:00 to 21:00 Workshops
15:00 to 16:00 Lectures and conferences
16:00 to 18:00 Presentations of projects and products
18:00 to 04:00 AV Performances and VJ / DJ sets

Vj, artists, designers, professionals and the general public will be involved in the manifold planned activities: from experimental audiovisual performances, architectural mapping shows, and DJVJ sets to workshops , roundtables, and presentations of products and hardware, with a special regard for Free and Open Source projects. Meeting areas devoted to the interaction among the hundreds of participants will be the corollary for the whole duration of the event.

Registration to the meeting is FREE and you can subscribe by following the procedures of registration in the "participate" section of the website (http://www.liveperformersmeeting.net/2012/en/participate ). To give the opportunity to host most of the performances we receive, the maximum duration of each show is 30 minutes. Registration is open until March 26, 2012.

Through our 8 years of experience, we were able to draw a conceptual map of the trends that have most influenced the creation of live video performances, and the programme of this XI edition reflects and investigates these trends:

• Live Cinema: works performed exclusively live, capable of demonstrating a narrative and experimental approach; projects in continual tension between perceptive experience and performative act.
• Video Mapping: a technique of video-projection that can animate architectural volumes. The effect is spectacular and exciting, it confuses and seduces our perceptions through the dialogue among images and tridimensional surfaces.
• Digital Freedoms: activism and beauty, aesthetic database, data visualization of public or private data; these forms of artistic expression have been able over time to both inform and activate the consciences of people around the world.
• Visual gender: thanks to the critical tension among gender studies, queer theory and contemporary art, the vision of the body, the sexual identity is disconnected from the stereotype of LGBT and video language becomes an instrument of emancipation of the genre.
• Generative Visual: thanks to an encoding of the active and reactive world around us new digital biospheres offer to the public the experience of complex networks composed of simple sensory-bit binary codes.
• Stereoscopic 3D: stereoscopic vision allows three-dimensional display of standard video content for a complete perceptive immersion. Ad hoc software and technologies are used to manipulate the visual perception of space to create "augmented" worlds.

In addition, this year LPM hosts once again the VJTorna , an international VJing competition that offers to both the performers and the audience a unique and exciting experience. Three days of battles among VJs, an international jury of experts, four categories Pre-production, VJ Champion Battle Champion and Best Live VJ Mapper, an Audience Award and technical sponsors who put their products up for grabs. Born in Budapest in 2004, today the VJTorna is a fixed appointment for VJs worldwide.

LPM is designed as a place of dialogue, comparison and exchange of ideas and information between artists and fans in the field that are accustomed to meet, communicate and interact mostly in the virtual space of the network.
A real meeting place, a space that fulfills an important opportunity for dialogue and exchange, LPM encourages research, experimentation, the encounter between different forms of artistic expression, the interaction of multiple techniques and digital technologies, analog, software and hardware. LPM is an unmissable spectacle during which the audience has the chance to meet the world's largest selection of artists active in the field of live video performances.

The Meeting aims to promote transnational movement and exchange of ideas, artworks and artists. All funds recovered by LPM are invested to support innovative research and experimentation in the field of live visuals with the latest technologies. LPM is part of AVNODE , whose objective is to improve and promote the veejaying culture worldwide.

LPM is produced with the support of the Culture Programme of the European Commission and in collaboration with international partners and co-organizers, the project includes a second edition in 2012 in Mexico City, with a series of previews and promotional events focused on live video to be held in France, Hungary, Greece and Italy, during the most important European festivals and cultural events.

Plasma_flow is a spectacular large-scale interactive projected installation and uses adaptive surround sounds to reinforce the user experience of interacting with a cloud of highly charged particles. The installation will emulate a Fluid/Particle system and is accessible for real time interactive via a series of Infrared light sensitive cameras, capturing input from participants as they traverse the space. Their traces will be projected as a swirling storm of particles and dyed fluids in response to their movements. The configuration is designed to be site specific and response to the unique qualities of the Cleland Stores at the Rocks commissioned by VIVID 2012 Lights On!

Very often the so-called interactive compositions involve trained performers as if composers don’t trust the audience to participate. This way the ‘society of the spectacle’ (G. Debord) is reproduced time and again. The only way to break this vicious circle is to let the audience play its own role in the composition. Acoustic Images is a “concert sculpture” where a full-length 40-minute 4 parts concert can be performed solely by the audience.

Interactive audio-visual installation “Acoustic Images” is about interdependence of audience’s movements, sound and video. Every viewer becomes a co-author, a conductor and a performer, who adds her own music part to the sounding composition. A camera captures movements of the audience and transforms them into sound. Different motions produce different pitches, timbers and volumes and panoramic position of sound.

At the same time the resulting music produces video images. Thus the audience can simultaneously see and hear results of their motions.
Importantly the resulting sound is harmonized so that it does not produce cacophony but meaningful music, developing from part to part. The composer had 2 challenges: 1) to provide the bit which would make the audience want to dance; 2) to allow enough scope for the chance factor.

REMOTE CONTROL is a live visuals set from still&moving.

Its a channel-changing deconstruction of pop culture references including but not limited to television, celebrity, aircraft travel, bears, horror, vector playground, LED's and plastic surgery, static, nature, interference, reality and random events related to adding friends on social networking sites.

REMOTE CONTROL live visuals offers still&moving an environment to (press) play -- rejigging screen-grabbed worlds offered up to us from 'reality' shows, syndicated news channels and press-rooms from all over. Cutting & pasting reworked pixels together to make steam trains from speakers, fake information telephone lines and moonwalk lessons.

2009-11-20 | Frank Sent Us
Frank Sent Us was born from the collaboration between Alessandro Roberti (Clichévideo), Mastro aka System Error, and Daniele Mungai, aka Frenetik Beat in Rome.

Rospo is not a scientific tool, it could become that, but the main purposal is to transport data from system to system.

Rospo will always draw a fluid and dynamic representation, always in transformation, regardless of the place where it is, because the present is always in continuous transformation, even in a desert.

The name "rospo" comes from the italian noun for "toad".

The behaviour of this machine is very similar to a toad: extremely sensitivity to movements coming from environment.

Every kind of "audiovisual reaction" of Rospo system will be due to the audiovisual trasformation of the environment.
